Faculty Forward: Start of Semester Guide and August event highlight from OVPFAA

August 9, 2024

The Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty and Academic Affairs (OVPFAA) welcomes you to a new academic year. We hope you had a rejuvenating summer and are ready for the fall semester.

Our new monthly newsletter, Faculty Forward, will provide you with an overview of our programs and workshops and is intended to highlight specific initiatives—including New Faculty Programming, Faculty Career Support, and Faculty Development and Mentoring, featured below.

The Start of Semester Guide is packed with resources to help you kick off the year smoothly. The guide includes important upcoming dates, university policy reminders, key resources (including links to the FAQ about SEA 202), and general faculty and student information available in both web-based and PDF formats.

OVPFAA supports every stage of your faculty journey, with programs for new faculty, resources for career advancement, and opportunities for scholarly development, mentoring, and connection.

New Faculty Programming

This month, we are welcoming the newest members of the IUB Faculty with several great events, including our New Faculty Orientation Picnic and Resource Fair and the newly designed Hoosiers Connect: New Faculty Mentoring Program.

Career Support

OVPFAA strives to support faculty across campus at every career stage, whether you are seeking information about promotion and tenure, applying for sabbatical, or preparing for retirement

Development and Mentoring

Finally, our office runs a range of programs to support faculty research, writing, and intellectual community on campus. We serve faculty across ranks and schools in our Scholarly Writing Program, Patten Lecture Series, and the  Initiative for Advancement of Women.
