As director of the Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning (CITL), I’d like to welcome you to IU Bloomington and our campus’s community of outstanding and dedicated instructors.
Since I arrived at IUB in 2010, I have been privileged to work with many talented instructors who invest their time, expertise, experience, and caring to improve the educations and lives of their students. That includes new faculty members like you, who bring important new perspectives and experiences to our community and our classrooms.
The CITL offers a wide range of support for your teaching—from quick questions, to course redesigns, to career development around teaching. And whether you are new to teaching or have decades of experience, we are ready to partner with you to improve your students’ success and connect you with other IUB instructors who are working on similar projects. Think of us as a combination of one-stop-shop for teaching questions and a hub through which you can join and build communities dedicated to transformative teaching. To me, the real delight of working at the CITL and IUB is seeing those communities of instructors thrive, and in seeing new instructors grow as members and eventual leaders of those communities.
I hope to meet many of you during the CITL’s New Faculty Orientation to Teaching on August 14th, and at the New Faculty Picnic on August 22nd. We continually look for new and innovative ways to assist our faculty, so let us know how we can help you prepare for your first semester of teaching at IUB.
Welcome again to our community, and thank you in advance for your work in helping all IU students succeed and thrive!
