Did you know that IUHR and OVPFAA partner together to provide a wide range of support services for all IU Bloomington Faculty? While IUHR provides answers to all your questions related to benefits like medical, retirement, life insurance, IU Mental Health and Healthy IU resources, the OVPFAA provides a wide range of workshops and programs to support you at every stage of your academic career.
Where do you go to find out all this information? First, watch for the Navigating IUB: A New Faculty Guide e-newsletter that you will continue to receive for the next few weeks and the new monthly OVPFAA faculty newsletter, Faculty Forward, that is coming to your inbox soon.
An important resource for all faculty is the Start of Semester Guide that will be posted on the OVPFAA website in the coming days. This document provides you with critical information to get your semester started on the right foot, highlighting updated policies and procedures, and links to many resources from around campus.
It’s never to early to start thinking about tenure & promotion. You can find more information about the guidelines and process for tenure & promotion on the OVPFAA website. You are also welcome to join the first tenure & promotion workshop, Overview of Promotion & Tenure: Guidelines, Process, and Timeline, that will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, or one of the rank specific workshops hosted on October 14 for tenure-track faculty, October 25 for instructional rank faculty, or November 8 for research rank faculty.
Lastly, we encourage you to get involved and attend one of our many workshops and events sponsored through the Initiative for the Advancement of Women (IAW), the Advocates and Allies for Equity program, and the Scholarly Writing Program. IAW’s opening reception will be hosted on Thursday, September 3 from 4:30-6pm. We also encourage you to attend one of the upcoming Patten Lecture Series events or the Tracy M. Sonneborn Lecture. This October, we will be hosting Odest Chadwicke Jenkins, Professor of Robotics, University of Michigan as the Fall 2024 William T. Patten Lecturer and we will be hosting the Sonneborn lecture for the 2024 Tracy M. Sonneborn co-award winner, David Crandall, Professor of Computer Science, Luddy School of Informatics, Computing and Engineering, IUB.
