Navigating teaching and technology resources at IU
August 20, 2024
As a Bloomington faculty member since 1997, I want to welcome you to our vibrant campus. You will notice that as our students return, excitement for a new academic year is palpable.
I have the honor of serving as Indiana University’s executive director of the Faculty Academy on Excellence in Teaching, commonly called FACET. FACET is a faculty community recognized for teaching excellence and dedicated to student success. FACET offers many opportunities for engagement with best practices in pedagogy through our annual retreat and contributions to the scholarship of teaching and learning through the Journal of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, and the Journal of Teaching and Learning Technology. Another avenue for growth is FACET’s Peer Review program. Whether you are just getting started or planning ahead for promotion or tenure, requesting a peer review is an outstanding way to engage best practices in teaching.
Beyond the IU FACET community, something you won’t find at many universities, Indiana University provides many resources through our campus’s Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning, the IU Library’s Department of Teaching and Learning, teaching.iu.edu, and IU Expand’s with its many online faculty development courses. I hope you will take a little time to engage with one or more of these enrichment opportunities.
