The Initiative for the Advancement of Women Faculty will support new opportunities for leadership development, provide individual consultation with faculty, and work to maintain an inclusive and productive climate for all faculty. This initiative will also pursue external grant opportunities that provide additional support for efforts to increase inclusion and provide a visible point of contact for women faculty to assist them in navigating challenges and opportunities.
Initiative for the Advancement of Women Faculty
The Initiative for the Advancement of Women Faculty will continue long-standing efforts to support women faculty and will create new opportunities moving forward, including:
- Leadership development
- Personalized consultation and support
- Long-term and pandemic-responsive action
- Engagement with institutional research
The need for targeted efforts to support women faculty was identified by the 2016 COACHE Faculty Satisfaction Survey, and those findings were further analyzed by the 2019 Campus Assessment Committee on Gender and Faculty Satisfaction. Since that time, we have conducted the 2019 COACHE Faculty Satisfaction survey, expanded to include a section on campus climate and summaries of those results are now available. In the coming years, we will lead efforts both to evaluate the progress we have made and to consider how we might address new challenges.
