Jamie Darin Prenkert is an Arthur M. Weimer Faculty Fellow and Professor of Business Law at the Kelley School of Business.  His research focuses on workplace civil rights laws and business and human rights.  He joined the Kelley School faculty in 2002, after earning his J.D. from Harvard Law School and practicing as an attorney both for a private law firm and for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.  He served as chair of the Department of Business Law & Ethics from 2014-2016.

He is the author of numerous articles and book chapters dealing with federal employment discrimination statutes, as well as businesses’ responsibility to respect stakeholders’ human rights.  His work has been cited by state and federal courts, as well as in briefs to the U.S. Supreme Court, and his research has been selected for school- and discipline-wide awards.  He recently co-edited “Law, Business, and Human Rights: Bridging the Gap,” a volume addressing various challenges and opportunities in the business and human rights field.   He served as Editor-in-Chief of the American Business Law Journal.

He has facilitated numerous short-term study abroad experiences with undergraduate students to India, Ghana, and South Africa. He received the IU Trustees Teaching Award, the Kelley School of Business Innovative Teaching Award, and the Harry C. Sauvain Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching.  Along with colleagues in the Department of Business Law & Ethics, he co-authors a leading business law textbook, “Business Law: The Ethical, Global, and E-Commerce Environment.”
